Preparation guide

Example workflow

  1. Plan the job

Example: start with "Shorten trousers, keeping the original hem", set the scheduled date, assign the technician and note how to access the site.

  2. Do the work

Record the time and materials actually used, including "Express service, ready next day", and anything found that needs a separate quote.

  3. Sign off and bill

Have the technician and the customer sign the completion lines, then make the invoice from the work order so the lines carry over.

An alteration shop takes in a pinned pair of trousers and a dress, and a week later has to hand back the right garments, changed by the right amount. The ticket is what connects the two moments. This template prints as an alteration ticket: each garment with its colour and the change measured or pinned, a price per job, an express charge where the customer needs it sooner, and the ready date. The customer keeps a copy and brings it back to collect.

Frequently asked questions

What should the customer keep from the ticket?

A copy with the ticket number, the garments, the price and the ready date. Ask for it at collection, so the right clothes go to the right person.

How do I note pinned measurements?

Write the change as a figure, such as 3 cm off each side seam, rather than "as pinned", in case a pin falls out before the garment reaches the machine.

How is the sales tax worked out on this work order?

The worked example above uses an example rate of 8%: $9.12 on a net amount of $114.00, for a total of $123.12. The editor recalculates all three when you change a quantity, a price or the country.

How does a work order become an invoice?

When the job is done, open the work order and make an invoice from it. The lines, customer and prices carry over, and the work order stays as the record of what was agreed and done.

Can I add my logo and signature?

Yes. The From section of the editor has a place for your company logo and for a signature or seal image. Uploading a picture needs a free account, and a member can keep both in settings so that every new document starts with them.
