A plumbing repair invoice has to explain work the customer mostly did not see: where the leak was, how much pipe was cut out and whether the system held pressure afterwards. Insurers and landlords often ask for exactly those facts before they pay. Can I invoice a leak search that found no leak?
Yes, if the call-out was booked as a search. Say which areas you checked and with what result, so the customer knows what has been ruled out.
What does the customer need for an insurance claim?
Usually the invoice with the cause of the leak in plain words, a few photos and the pressure-test result. Ask the customer what their insurer wants before you send it.
How is the sales tax worked out on this invoice?
The worked example above uses an example rate of 8%: $792.00 on a net amount of $9,900.00, for a total of $10,692.00. The editor recalculates all three when you change a quantity, a price or the country.
How should I number invoices?
Use one unbroken sequence per business, never reuse a number, and issue a credit note rather than deleting an invoice you have already sent.
