Preparation guide

Example workflow

  1. Confirm scope and quantities

Example: start with "Hack off loose plaster and clear away, per m²", confirm the required quantity and client inputs, then agree completion criteria for each item.

  2. Review and approve the quotation

Confirm acceptance evidence for "Beads to corners and openings, per metre", all line quantities, exclusions and quote validity with the customer, and retain the approved version.

  3. Deliver and prepare billing

Confirm completed quantities, site photos, agreed test results and any remaining remedial work. When the agreed milestone is complete, prepare an invoice using actual quantities and approved changes.

Plastering is quoted by area, but two rooms of the same size can cost very different amounts depending on what lies behind the old finish. An interior plastering quotation should therefore say how much loose plaster comes off, which surfaces get a full coat and which only a skim, and how corners are finished. This template separates removal, walls, ceilings and beads, so a client who adds a room or keeps a ceiling sees exactly which line changes.

Frequently asked questions

How long must new plaster dry before painting?

It depends on the thickness, the room and the weather, so give your usual guidance and point the client to the paint maker’s advice on a first mist coat. Put it in the notes so the decorator is not booked too early.

Is protecting floors and furniture part of the price?

Say so on the quotation. Plastering is messy work; state whether you sheet the floors and move furniture, or expect the rooms to be cleared before you arrive.

How is the sales tax worked out on this quotation?

The worked example above uses an example rate of 8%: $165.28 on a net amount of $2,066.00, for a total of $2,231.28. The editor recalculates all three when you change a quantity, a price or the country.

How is the document numbered?

QuoteBill gives each new document a unique number of its own. A member can switch to numbers in sequence in settings, such as QUO-2026-0001: one sequence for each kind of document, starting again every calendar year. A number you type yourself is kept as it is.

Can I email it to the customer?

Yes, from your own mail app. With a free account, the editor’s download menu offers Email this document, which opens your mail app with a message about the document already written. QuoteBill sends nothing itself, so save the PDF and attach it before you send.
