Confirm scope and quantities
Example: start with "Interior space measurement", confirm the required quantity and client inputs, then agree completion criteria for each item.

Deliver and prepare billing

An interior design quotation prices the design stage of a room or a whole home before any builder is hired: measuring the space, drawing the layout and choosing finishes such as flooring, tiles and paint colors. It covers design work, not the cost of materials or the fit-out itself. Many disagreements start with a client assuming that purchasing or site supervision is included, so say plainly whether it is, and how many layout revisions the fee allows.

Frequently asked questions
How do I charge for buying furniture and materials for the client?
If you procure items, quote it as a separate service, either a handling fee or a percentage of the purchase price, and list the items on their own quotation or invoice. Keeping procurement apart from the design fee shows the client what the design itself cost.
Should I quote per square meter or a fixed fee per room?
Either works with this template. A fee per area suits larger homes, where the work grows with the floor area; a fixed fee per room suits small projects. Whichever you choose, write the measured area on the measurement line so the basis of the price is visible.
What if the client wants to go ahead with the layout only?
Because the stages are separate lines, the client can accept measurement and layout and leave finish selection for later. Note how long your price for the later stage holds, so a delayed decision does not lock you into an old rate.
How is the sales tax worked out on this quotation?
The worked example above uses an example rate of 8%: $326.40 on a net amount of $4,080.00, for a total of $4,406.40. The editor recalculates all three when you change a quantity, a price or the country.
How is the document numbered?
