Frequently asked questions
How do I quote when the customer has only a sketch and no 3D file?
Add a separate line for modeling, priced by the hour or as a fixed sum, and make the printing lines depend on the customer approving the model. Printing from a model nobody approved is a common reason for paying twice.
What if a print fails partway through?
A failure caused by your machine or settings is normally reprinted at your own cost. If the approved model cannot be printed as designed, explain why to the customer and quote the fix before you print again.
Should the quotation mention dimensional accuracy?
Yes, in general terms. State that resin parts can shrink or warp slightly and that any critical dimensions should be named before printing, so the customer does not expect the accuracy of a machined part.
How is the sales tax worked out on this quotation?
The worked example above uses an example rate of 8%: $1,353.60 on a net amount of $16,920.00, for a total of $18,273.60. The editor recalculates all three when you change a quantity, a price or the country.
