Currency converter for invoices

Billing a client abroad? See what an invoice total comes to in another currency, using the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, with the rate and its date shown next to the result. In the QuoteBill editor the same converter can add the equivalent to your invoice as a note.

Indicative rates, not bank rates

These are the European Central Bank's euro reference rates, published once on each working day at around 16:00 Central European Time. A rate between two other currencies is worked out through the euro. It is a guide, not the rate a bank or payment provider will give you: fees and spreads apply, and the rate on the day you are paid may be different.

How it works

  1. Type the amount and pick the two currencies.
  2. Read the result with the rate and its date. To use a rate of your own, for example the one you agreed with your client, type it in the “Your rate” box.
  3. In the invoice editor, open “Convert the total” to add the equivalent to the notes of the invoice.

Where the rates come from

The European Central Bank publishes euro reference rates for about 30 currencies, once on each working day. At weekends and on bank holidays there is no new rate, so the latest working day's rate is shown. The date is always next to the result.

Amounts are rounded to each currency's own smallest unit: no decimals for the yen and the won, two for most currencies, three for some dinars.

Questions

Which exchange rate should I use on an invoice?
Use the rate you agreed with your client, or state the rate and its source on the invoice so both sides can check it. If tax or accounting rules in your country name a rate or a date, follow those. This converter does not replace them.
Why is the rate not the one my bank gives?
This is a reference rate close to the market value. Banks and payment providers set their own rate with their margin and fees added, and it moves during the day.
Why is my currency not in the list?
The European Central Bank publishes rates for about 30 currencies only. For any other currency, type a rate of your own in the “Your rate” box and the amount is converted the same way.
Does QuoteBill keep my amounts?
No. The sum is worked out in your browser. The only request to our servers is the table of rates, and it carries no amount, no currency and no personal data.
