Use QuoteBill from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini
Connect QuoteBill to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini once, and an assistant can find a template, total a document with a country’s published tax rate and hand you a link to a finished draft. This article walks through the connection and what the assistant can and cannot do.
Alone, an AI assistant may write a quotation that looks right but adds up wrong. Connected to QuoteBill, it can use QuoteBill’s 250 templates, the editor’s own arithmetic and the published tax rates for 195 countries, each with its source, and return a link to the finished document.
What you need
A free QuoteBill account and an AI app that accepts connectors, which are links to other services. Claude and ChatGPT on the web do. The connection is for QuoteBill members.
Connect in three steps
- Copy QuoteBill’s connection address: https://quotebill.com/mcp
- In the app’s settings, add a connector (in ChatGPT, an app) and paste the address as its URL.
- A QuoteBill window opens: sign in and choose Allow. The AI never sees your password.
Claude and ChatGPT
On claude.ai, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it QuoteBill and paste the address. On chatgpt.com in a browser, turn on developer mode in Settings, which ChatGPT needs for apps it has not reviewed, then create an app named QuoteBill, paste the address, choose OAuth and allow it. The Gemini web app accepts such servers only in some countries; Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect with the same address as a remote server.
What the assistant can do
- find templates and read one, in the language you ask for, and list the ones members like most
- look up the published tax rule of a country, with its source (where no single national rate exists, as in the United States, it says so)
- total line items with tax, in the currency you choose
- draft any kind of document QuoteBill makes, and turn a draft into the next document, such as the invoice for an accepted quotation
- add tax to an amount or take it out, at the rate you give or at the published standard rate of one of 151 countries, with a withholding deducted if you need one
- convert an amount between currencies at the European Central Bank’s daily reference rates: an indicative figure, not the rate a bank will give you
- find one of the 119 sample contracts and show its clauses or its whole English text (samples, not legal advice; it cannot create, send or sign a contract, which you do yourself in E-Contracts)
- list the guides and the ids the other tools accept
How to ask
Ask as you would ask a colleague: who the document is for, what you charge and in which country. Mention QuoteBill the first time. For example: "Make an invoice in QuoteBill for my client in Germany: 12 hours of consulting at 95 euros an hour, due in 14 days." Or: "The client accepted, so make the invoice from that quotation."
What you get back, and what to check
The assistant shows the subtotal, tax and total and gives you a link. It opens the document on QuoteBill with the client, items and dates filled in, ready to download as Excel or Word or to edit and save as a PDF. A published tax rate is a starting point, not advice: whether it applies depends on your registration and on what you sell where.
What happens to your information
The connection checks that you are a member, then only reads public information (templates, sample contracts, tax rules, exchange rates and like counts) and does arithmetic. It keeps no client names or amounts and cannot send, sign or delete anything. The app you connect can see your account’s email address, name and photo, but it cannot open your saved documents or contracts. The draft travels in the link after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server, and the link carries a checksum, so a changed character makes QuoteBill refuse the draft rather than show a wrong figure. What you type into the AI app follows that app’s privacy terms. To disconnect, remove QuoteBill in the AI app or choose Disconnect under Connected AI apps in Company settings.
